Hi fellow groupees (not to be confused with 'rupees'),

Great idea for a group, Ghop! May I humbly suggest that perhaps we focus on 'How to become an astrobiologist astronaut'? There's a group called the Ashos (love the name- say it out loud!): www.ashos.org. They have a terrific mailing list, and I'd suggest that all of you join it. They've moved their interactive environment  to Facebook (which I don't have, so I can't comment upon), but they still distribute their user postings via old-fashioned email lists for troglodytes like me.

My reason suggesting that we focus on becoming an AB astronaut is twofold: (1) we have a lot of expertise in this area, and (2) to my knowledge, we haven't yet succeeded in getting an ABist into any of the astronaut corps (public or private). I think it'd be cool if we all lent a helping hand in this area to get one of us in the door! :)

What do you guys think? If you like the suggestion, I'd be happy to aggregate and post a bunch of stuff that I've accumulated over the years along these lines. I think if we pitched in all of our collective experiences, we could really sharpen up our skills and perspectives to increase our chances.

Awesome group! So how do I do it? Are we focusing private or government sponsored space programs or both? Very exciting!
