Noah Hammond has not received any gifts yet
Hi Everyone!
I'm Noah Hammond, I work at the SETI Institute, studying the moons of Saturn.
Below are some photos of an outreach event at the California Academy of Sciences. Jill Tater and I set up a game that let kids search for alien toys in a simulated universe of colored foam. If they didn't find any on the first scoop we asked them:
"Do you think that means there aren't any aliens in there or that you just haven't looked enough?"
Then we hit our take home message that at SETI, we have been scanning the stars looking for radio signals from other civilizations. We haven't found anything yet, but we've only searched a tiny fraction of the universe, so we think we just need to keep looking!
It was a very successful and fun activity.
To any educators out there, feel free to use this game or something like it, if you want to run an activity related to SETI.
Cheers!
