A Bit About Me

Greetings, inhabitants of Terra! My chosen pseudonym/nethandle here is Spyglass, though WorldBuildersInc is the moniker I operate under in some form or another across the greater web. I'm 18, and I go by he/him (but they/them is fine too). I just got accepted into Florida Tech's astrobiology program so if all goes well with finances I'll be doing my undergraduate major there and may even get to work with NASA on some Mars or Europa mission stuff!
When I'm not actually doing my coursework or managing my Instagram astronomy page, I am entirely occupied by worldbuilding; that is, the practice of constructing detailed fictional realms in multiple media. My current count for ongoing original fictional universes lies at 8, with a number of collaborative endeavors (and one independent fancomic) to boot. Most of these worlds are based heavily on science, whether established, theoretical, or plausibly speculative. I'm always looking to learn more about pretty much everything.

Before we discuss actual examples of unearthly life, it would be prudent to set forth a solid definition of what life actually entails. For my own worldbuilding purposes, I have composed a simple set of requirements for something to be defined as alive:
